What battery chemistry should I use?
Sodium-Ion Batteries (Na-ion)
Sodium-ion batteries are the optimal choice when your equipment must perform reliably in the extreme cold that we experience in Canada.

Best Application: Mission-critical remote equipment in harsh climates, such as telecommunication, security cameras, radio relays, power gates, Oil and Gas monitoring, and cattle water systems.

Cold Weather Performance: They maintain high power delivery and charge acceptance at very low temperatures, operating down to -40º C with minimal capacity loss.

Cycle Life (Lifespan): Currently offers a slightly lower cycle life compared to LiFePO4, typically ranging from 4,000 to 6,000 cycles before capacity significantly degrades. For many stationary applications, this still translates to more than 11 years of reliable service.
Lithium Iron Phosphate Batteries (LiFePO4)
Lithium Iron Phosphate (a type of Lithium-ion, or Li-ion) batteries are best when you need the highest energy density and long-term durability in a more temperature-stable environment.

Best Application: Mobile or residential off-grid systems like RVs and small cabin/cottage off-grid setups, where minimizing weight and size is valuable.

Cold Weather Performance: Limited. Performance drops significantly below freezing. While they can safely discharge down to approximately -20 °C, they cannot be safely charged below 0 °C without the use of an energy-consuming internal heating system included in our battery packs.

Cycle Life (Lifespan): LiFePO4 chemistry is known for its exceptional stability and longevity, commonly achieving 6,000 to 8,000+ cycles under ideal operating conditions. This makes it an excellent, long-term investment.
